The article presents a review of the analysis of public administration systems, institutionalization and financing of the sports industry, as well as the level of organization of training of professional sports management personnel in nine foreign countries and Kazakhstan. The analysis was carried out using statistical and organizational data of countries with different continental locations, different systems of political, legal, administrative, economic and social relations. An expanded understanding of the term "sports management" is reflected. The impact of effective sports management on the results of athletes follows from rationally organized management, which, in our opinion, requires adjustments in the conditions of Kazakhstan. Recommendations are presented for improving the system of training personnel in the direction of sports management in Kazakhstan, expressed in changing the practice of appointment to senior positions in organizations carrying out their main activities in the field of sports and supplementing educational programs in management with special disciplines.
