Historical and cultural heritage of Semirechye as a factor in the development of educational tourism: ancient stages and modern potential

Abstract

In the programs for the development of tourism in Kazakhstan, starting from the 90s of the 20th century, the need for priority development of inbound tourism is regularly declared. However, to this day, most domestic tourism enterprises are focused on sending clients abroad, mainly to distant foreign countries. From the point of view of the author of this article, one of the reasons why only a small part of travel agencies is engaged in receiving tourists is the high labor intensity of this activity, which requires specialists to have deep knowledge, including local history. This knowledge allows creating unique tours based on the history of the region. This article, briefly revealing the ancient history of Semirechye, is relevant and can serve as a basis for creating new tourist routes in the region, contributing to the development of inbound tourism in Kazakhstan.
