Abstract

The article examines the relationship between mental abilities and intellectual sports of students aged 12-13 years of Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey. The paper presents the average indicators of the accuracy coefficient of the students' task performance, the coefficient of mental performance, the volume of visual information and the speed of information processing using the Landolt ring sample. Based on the data obtained, the authors proved that intellectual sports (chess, togyzkumalak, checkers) have a positive effect on the attention of students, the speed of information processing. The research work carried out at the junction of the sciences of pedagogy, psychology, sports physiology is aimed at one of the most important socially significant issues on the agenda in Kazakhstan today – the health of the people and education. The article is devoted to the role of intellectual sports in the preservation, support and development of students' mental abilities, which have recently acquired special importance associated with social changes and updating the content of education.
