Trends in the development of sports selection and achievements in modern judo wrestling

The article presents the results of the analysis of scientific articles by foreign scientists devoted to the issues of sports training of highly qualified judoists at the present stage. Priority directions in improving the training process are identified; the range of opinions of leading coaches from Spain, England, Brazil, Croatia, the USA, Japan, France and Germany is shown. The possibilities of predicting the performance of judo athletes at sports competitions and factors affecting the success of performances are revealed. It is shown that the subject of wide discussion of specialists in the field of wrestling are early sports specialization and the impact of rapid weight loss before competitions on the physical fitness of judoists. It is emphasized that in modern attitudes of sports success of judoists, the correct understanding by coaches of such concepts as "sports recruitment" and "sports selection" plays a certain role. Priority directions have been identified for judo coaches: in sports selection; in identifying potentially gifted children; in attracting promising judoists to centralized training; selection criteria for national teams. The article also draws attention to the age levels from which judoists can achieve maximum physical fitness, taking into account their mental capabilities to achieve high athletic results at sports competitions.
