Abstract

The article paid extensive attention to the analysis of the development of bicycle tourism in such a region as Europe, where bicycle tourism has been developing for quite a long time and has its own positive and worthy of reproduction specifics both in terms of infrastructure organization and in terms of bicycle culture. The study was conducted on the basis of a systematic review of literature published in English and Russian over the past 16 years. The article reflects the currently available definitions of the concept of bicycle tourism and a bicycle tourist based on scientific articles. The problems of developing bicycle tourism in Europe and Kazakhstan are revealed. Based on the analysis of scientific data and our own practical experience in bicycle tourism, theoretical and practical recommendations for improving the development of bicycle tourism in Kazakhstan (using the city of Almaty and the Almaty region as an example) have been developed and presented.
