The article examines the relationship between the quantitative level of mastery of wrestling techniques (Greco-Roman, freestyle wrestling, judo) and their application in sports competitions. Government documents, decisions, training programs for sports schools in Kazakhstan are analyzed, which indicate that the documents do not contain normative indicators for quantitative and qualitative requirements for mastering wrestling techniques based on the characteristics of training groups by type of wrestling. The analysis based on the data obtained during the study showed that there are few quantitative indicators of wrestlers' assimilation of wrestling techniques in sports schools. Variants of classification, systematization and grouping of wrestling techniques are given to recommend increasing the quantitative characteristics of wrestling techniques, indicating the methods of application in the training of wrestlers. Based on the results of questions and answers conducted among expert coaches, it was found that most specialists support the usefulness of large amounts of training in wrestling techniques in training wrestlers and believe that it is necessary to apply it in practice. Based on the characteristics of wrestler training groups in sports schools in Kazakhstan, it is recommended to introduce normative indicators of the quantity and quality of mastering wrestling techniques to justify the requirements for transferring a wrestler to the next training group. Determining that there is a close relationship between wrestlers' mastery of wrestling techniques and the ability to use wrestling techniques in sports competitions, research shows that they have an impact on a wrestler's ability to achieve high results in competitions. According to the results of the study, the correctness of the hypothesis was established that it is possible to increase the ability of a wrestler to achieve high results in sports competitions by increasing the quantitative indicator of mastery of wrestling techniques.
