The dynamics of tourist flows and seasonal features of the development of ecological tourism in the East Kazakhstan region

Abstract

The article presents an assessment of the development of ecotourism in the East Kazakhstan region, based on an analysis of the dynamics of tourist flows, the structure of tourist arrivals, seasonal features of tourist activity and the territorial differentiation of tourist destinations in the region. The study is based on official statistical data provided by the Tourism Department of the East Kazakhstan region for the period 2022-2025, as well as materials from the regional tourism development map. The study revealed positive trends in the influx of tourists, a stable predominance of domestic tourism and a two-peak seasonal structure characterized by summer and winter peaks of tourist activity. The results show that the development of ecotourism in the region depends on the correlation between the availability of infrastructure, the seasonal concentration of tourist demand and the territorial specialization of tourist zones. The study also identifies priority areas for improving infrastructure conditions for the development of ecotourism, including increasing transport accessibility, developing environmentally sustainable infrastructure for visitors, and a more geographically differentiated distribution of tourism-related investments.
