Based on an analysis of scientific data from 47 relevant sources, functional differences in the bodies of elderly men and women and differences in the course of sarcopenia by gender were identified. A specialized strength training program for the prevention of sarcopenia in elderly women was developed, consisting of 10 exercises covering all major muscle groups. The effectiveness of this specialized strength training program was substantiated based on the results of a 24-month formative experiment. Statistically significant changes in handgrip strength and lean mass index were recorded, as well as a decrease in fat mass in such body segments as the torso and legs. Twelve female participants aged 62-64 years participated in the experiment. The search for solutions to extend the active longevity of women in connection with the increase in the elderly population determined the relevance of the study.
