The role of educational tourism in the training of tourism specialists

Abstract

The tourism sector is one of the main sectors of the economy of the state, going on any path of development. Different types of tourism develop to varying degrees in each country according to several important factors, such as the availability of tourist resources, location and climate. And in countries where education and training provision are developed at a high level, the newest and most modern type of tourism is developing accordingly – educational tourism. This article describes in detail the concept of educational tourism and its definition, features, level of popularity among tourists. Definitions, opinions of scientists of the world on this type of tourism are investigated. In order to study the importance of educational tourism among modern types of tourism, bachelor students of the first and fourth courses of the specialty «Tourism» of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkestan, studying abroad for a semester period of study, as well as teachers of the Department «Management and Tourism» who have completed a scientific internship for abroad for the purpose of professional development, were interviewed. An online survey was also conducted among teachers and students of this university and the Department of Tourism of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality. As a result of interviews and online questionnaires, it was proved that educational tourism is becoming increasingly popular and developing among students and teachers, in general among tourists. The importance of study trips to other regions in the practical consolidation of theoretical knowledge, the characteristics of the features of educational tourism as the most popular type of modern types of tourism were studied.
